If there is an element that characterizes the city of Elche, it is undoubtedly its palm grove. Elche can not be understood without the palm trees, which have formed a unique urban landscape for more than 1000 years.

With more than 200,000 examples, it is the largest in Europe. Seen from a distance it may seem like a forest, in reality it is a plantation for agricultural purposes, hence the plots or their groups. They are denominated orchards. Each of the plots is flanked by rows of palm trees, so that seen from the air they form grids.

Opened in 1996 in Santa Pola, Pola Park is an amusement park of 24,000 m2 where kids and adults find a family atmosphere.

Orihuela is a town and municipality in the province of Alicante. It is located in the south western corner of the province and adjacent to the region of Murcia. The city centre is 23 metres above sea level on the banks of the River Segura.

The town is outstanding, amongst various things, for its cultural and natural heritage, especially its old town (declared a historical – artistic monument), by their festivities including Easter week (declared to be of international tourist interest) and its beaches.

Tabarca is the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community and is situated opposite the city of Alicante and eleven nautical miles off Cape Santa Pola. In reality it is more than one island, it is a small archipelago, comprising, apart from Tabarca, the islets of La Cantera, La Galera and Nao. It is approximately 1,800 metres long and has a maximum width of about 400 metres.

In the past, its coast hosted a refuge for Berber pirates. In the eighteenth century, Carlos III ordered it fortified and a town built in which to house several families of fishermen from Genoa who were captive in the Tunisian city of Tabarka. The walls surrounding the town have been declared to be of Historical and Cultural Interest.
